PROVIDES TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND MONITORING SERVICES FOR LIGHTNET FIBER NETWORK

Golden Valley, MN. – Telecom Engineering Inc. announced today the ongoing 24×7 technical support and network monitoring services contract renewal by LightNet. LightNet is a Minnesota carrier with a fiber network that spans 436 km across the state.

A mutually beneficial relationship was solidified between the companies after Telecom Engineering completed the engineering, installation, and provisioning phase of the multi-node project for LightNet in 2003. The partnership led to the aforementioned contract continuation.

The LightNet leading edge network design is centered around the solid Cisco 15454 platform with OC-48 DWDM optics. These optics permit LightNet to expand its backbone capacity economically with the addition of passive 8 or 16 wavelength TIP DWDM multiplexers. To compensate for high attenuation on long spans TIP EDFAs (erbium-doped fiber amplifier) were utilized. LightNet can now quickly expand their current capacity by simply adding additional DWDM optics to the Cisco platform.

Other notable features of the forward-thinking design include Cisco Transport Controller (CTC) access by secure VPN network connection, dual alarm telephone messaging systems, and expandable backbone capacity to 160 Gbps.
